My Clinical Experience and Training
Before moving to private practice in 2001, I worked in the state's community mental health system for 14 years, providing home-based and clinic-based services for children and teens referred by the departments of Mental Health and Social Services. I was the Clinical Director for a large residential treatment program for children and adolescents in Boston for four years.
I have advanced training
in child and adolescent development, trauma evaluation and treatment,
family therapy, alcohol and substance abuse treatment, crisis
evaluation and response, group therapy, and special treatment issues
related to Asperger's Disorder, autism and other developmental
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approaches are integrated into all my treatment in child, adolescent adult and family situations.
I am a Certified Group Psychotherapist and very committed to helping children and adults develop and grow in groups. I have run groups for children and adults since 1987. I have advanced post-graduate training in psychodynamic group psychotherapy, and served as a Board Member of the Northeast Society for Group Psychotherapy from 2002 to 2005. Currently I am NSGP's c0-chair for the Annual Conference.
Since 1992, I provide supervision and training to other clinicians. For three years I was an adjunct professor teaching clinical social work to MSW candidates at Simmons College School of Social Work.
My private practice specializes in helping families with children who are affected by difficult-to-manage behaviors like tantrums, destructive and self-destructive behavior, and attention-deficit problems. I see many families who are affected by a family member's drug or alcohol abuse. I have a special interest in helping families who have "quirky" kids who may be affected by neurodevelopmental differences.
